JoburgToday #ToDo – Emirates Stadium – Joburg Zoo Parkade

Anticipation runs rampant in light of tomorrow’s monumental Super Rugby match between the Lions and Crusaders at the Emirates Stadium (Ellis park) in Johannesburg.

The Stadium is expecting a solid 62,000 sold-out spectators, breaking the tournament’s all-time attendance record of the 61,823 crowd at 2014’s Super Rugby final at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

Stadium Manager Mike Erasmus posits the event as being “bigger than the test against the All Blacks“, and has gone to great lengths to ensure the stadium measures up to the magnitude of the match.

Preparation for the event entails every meticulous detail; from the perfection of the pitch – to the solid security saturating the stadium.

To ensure the safety of the spectators, comprehensive security measures have been put in place. Every vehicle entering the precinct will be searched, and no one is getting in without a paid parking ticket.

With security officers covering the area of the arena as well as undercover JMPD personnel on duty, fans can focus on the action.

The added measure of a bomb-sweep scheduled an hour before the gates open will ensure that the only fire to be felt will be the fighters on the field and the their fans on the fringes.

For more information see the Stadium’s official web page for details, rules, maps and matches.
