EFF calls on Hawks to probe High Court tenders

LIMPOPO – The EFF has written to the Office of the Public Protector, under the tutelage of Busisiwe Mkhwebane, to investigate the allegations.

Both the Hawks and the Public protector confirmed they are investigating the complaint.

“The matter has been brought to our attention for investigations and we have since commenced with the investigation. We can, however, not discuss the matter any further until investigations are concluded,” said Hawks Spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi.

The investigations by the Hawks come after the EFF alleged the paperwork for the awarding of three tenders was flawed and claimed most tenders were only awarded to a connected few.

“It is our conviction that four officials are involved in corrupt activities relating to the Polokwane High Court furniture tender, security guards tender and container conversion tender,” EFF General Secretary, Godrich Gardee, said in a statement.

The department declined to comment on the matter as it was still sub judice. Departmental Spokesperson, Steve Mahlangu, said the department was aware of the allegations.

“The matter is now in the hands of the Hawks who will investigate and compile a report on their findings,” he said.
