Olifantspoort Plant ‘running at full capacity’

POLOKWANE – The municipality just recently received information that the Olifantspoort Plant is running at full capacity.

All reservoirs were empty when the plant was started this morning and currently the Specon reservoir is still too low to to run pumps to Polokwane, however, as soon as water levels are high enough, the pumps to Polokwane will be started.

The estimated time for water to reach Polokwane is about 6 hours from now.

POLOKWANE – Operations at Lepelle Northern Water have resumed following two days of protests in the area, said the Polokwane Municpality on Thursday morning.

“Pumping has resumed at Olifantspoort Plant this morning and currently, low lift pumps are switched on and the high lift pumps will be switched on as soon as the contact tank has water.”

We urge residents to be patient as it will take a while before water reaches the affected areas. In the meantime residents not are urged to use water sparingly, concluded the municipality.

Bendor, Serala View and Flora Park among areas affected by water shortages

POLOKWANEOther affected areas include Sterk Park and Ivy Park.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to use water sparingly to avoid shortages.

The reservoir levels are:

“Tankers will be sent out to the affected areas,” the municipality said.

POLOKWANE – According to a notification from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW), Olifantspoort Plant is currently out of operation due to ongoing community protests in the area, says the Polokwane Municipality.

The plant has been switched off as a safety precaution, however, operations should be back-on-track following a meeting with the concerned community which will take place this morning (Wednesday),” explains the municipality.
