Two dead and four critically injured in head-on-collision in Musina

LIMPOPO – According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find an SUV in the left-hand lane of the highway while the a taxi was found on the opposite side, parked among some bushes.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered that the SUV had burst into flames. Fortunately, passing motorists had been able to extinguish the blaze, prior to the arrival of paramedics,” Meiring explained.

Four other patients, were found lying trapped inside the SUV.

“Assessments showed that all four patients were in a critical condition,” he said.

Provincial Fire Services had to use specialised rescue equipment to free the trapped patients from the vehicle.

Shortly after treatment, the patients were transported to Musina Provincial Hospital for further care.

“The driver of the taxi was assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. He was treated and transported by another service to a nearby hospital. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” Meiring concluded.
