Students injured during stampede at Capricorn TVET College

POLOKWANE – According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, at around 08:00 on Thursday morning, members of MMP Security, who were in charge of access control at the college in College Street, opened the gates to allow entry to a multitude of awaiting applicants for registration.

“A stampede ensued as students forced their way in, resulting in a 22-year-old being seriously injured with five other students collapsing,” Mojapelo explained.

Mojapelo says the police have also opened a hit-and-run case after a motorist, driving a white Mercedes Benz (CMX 390 L), ran over two applicants walking in the vicinity of the college, seriously injuring one of them.
