31 ‘most wanted’ suspects arrested during festive season operations

LIMPOPO – Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe reported: “The police in Mecklenburg outside Burgersfort have arrested two suspects (aged 26 and 60)  for possession of counterfeit goods in the form of different assortment of shoes.

“Police members made the arrests after residents in the area notified them of a suspect moving boxes from bushes while a second suspect kept watch. Preliminary investigations have revealed that these recovered goods were from Mozambique and they were in transit to the Free State Province.

Meanwhile in the Phalaborwa area, Giyani Cluster, arrested five  suspects (aged between 23 and 42) for a series of housebreaking and theft, house robberies and possession of suspected stolen properties.

These suspect’s were found to be terrorising a number of places in the Phalaborwa, Hoedspruit and Maake Policing areas.

During this joint operation which was composed of the Crime intelligence, Phalaborwa Trio Task Team and the Hoedspruit farm watch, the following items were recovered:
Five laptops, One mountain bike, one cooler box and five cellphones, two queen bed duvet covers, two blankets, two pillows, sheets,one red store room container, two cosmetic bags, one Telefunken plasma TV 47, Sinotec DVD player, grinder, hammer, two spanners, extension cord, first aid kit bag with first aid package and a travelling bag.

The estimated value of the recovered items is around R200 000.

Still in the Giyani Cluster, four  suspects (aged between 26 and 48) were arrested for house robberies and house breaking and theft cases which were committed in the Giyani, Vuwani and Thohoyandou areas.

The following items were recovered: 1× Samsung Plasma TV, 1× Hybrid speaker, 1×Skytec speaker, 2× LG monitor screen, 1× Samsung monitor screen, 1× Gold Curtain, 1× Power supply, 1× NEC Projector, 2× Computer keyboard, 1× Acer computer mouth, 2× Computer speakers, 1× Audio cable roll, 1× Lasher Green wheelbarrow, 1× black and white sport bag, 1× speaker cable, 1× Adapter power supply and 1× Power supply computer cable.

In the Makhado Cluster, a 34-year-old man was arrested for a series of house breaking and theft business which he committed in a number of places within this cluster.

During the arrest, the following were recovered: 5x 10 boxes of lion matches, 4x Gunston 20 cigarettes, 1x Rasnom 20 cigarettes, 1x Texan 20 cigarettes, 2x Peter stuyvensant 30 cigarettes, 12x kent 20 cigarettes, 1x Jock pipe tobacco, 3x Nineteen pipes of tobacco, 2x John and Rolfe 20 cigarettes, 6x Okapi knives, 6x Fox pipes of tobacco, 1x Rothmans 20 cigarettes and 2x Chesterfield 20 cigarettes.

In the Burgersfort, Thoyandou, Mankweng, Seshego, Polokwane and Bela Bela clusters, 19 suspects (aged between 21 and 51) were arrested for a series of crimes ranging from carjacking, house robbery, business robbery to armed robberies.

The five who were arrested in Polokwane and Bela Bela included a suspect who was a dismissed police officer previously attached to the SAPS Pretoria Central in the Gauteng Province who was part of a group which was terrorised motorists along the N1 South in the Bela Bela and Pienansrivier areas.

During these arrests two firearms, three  cars, cellphones, 15 ammunition and school bag were recovered.

Soem of these suspects have already appeared before different magistrate courts through out the province. The remaining suspects will appear before the courts soon.

The Provincial Commission Lt. General Nneke Ledwaba has acknowledged the exceptional work done by the Police Operational Wing especially the Detectives and the Crime Intelligence Units in the Province.

The General has further warned those who are continuing with their criminal acts that their days are numbered as they don’t have a place to hide and we will leave no stone unturned when dealing with them.
