19-year-old arrested for murder, remanded in custody

LIMPOPO – The suspect appeared before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court today, 7 September, on a charge of murder.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says he was remanded in custody, with no bail, until 14 September 2017, for bail application and for further police investigation to take place.


LIMPOPO – Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the incident took place at Solomon Mhlangu High School in Modimolle.

Two 19-year-old, gr. 12 learners were gambling on school property, when a fight ensued.

The learners were then taken to the principal’s office to seek intervention.

“The suspect stabbed the deceased with a sharp instrument, killing him instantly,” Ngoepe said.

Police were summoned and the suspect was arrested.

“He will appear before the Modimolle Magistrate Court soon, on a charge of murder.”

The South African Police Service have condemned this act of bullying and violence in the strongest possible terms.
