Seven suspected poachers nabbed, vehicles confiscated outside Lephalale

LIMPOPO – The ongoing fight against any form of illegal hunting in the province has once again yielding positive. This follows the arrests of seven suspected poachers in the Bulgirivier Policing area outside Lephalale recently, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“Two vehicles, a 3.75 hunting rifle, three rounds of live ammunition, a silencer and an axe were seized during the arrest.”

These arrests form part of joint operations conducted by members from the Provincial Task Team and the Rhino Poach Unit being conducted in the areas where illegal hunting is prevalent.

These suspects, aged between 24 and 52-years-old, will appear before the Lephalale Magistrate Court soon on the charges of possession of firearm and ammunition without licence and Act 2003-Lim-Environmental Management Act 7/2003.

Investigations into this matter still continue.
