Back in the house

POLOKWANE – The man behind hits such as Celina and Higher and Higher and founder of popular house music group Steve Group, made his comeback with two extra hot singles.

This time Steve, as he is known by his legions of fans, is set to release his third offering in September and he said his latest singles are different from his previous albums.

He is known for focusing on rebranding as a solo artist and his upcoming offering features hits such as Swiloyini featuring Candy Tsa Mandebele, Wena featuring Dr Malinga, Nembeza which features Professor and Imali, which he produced with legendary multi-talented producer DJ Oskido. All these singles will be released under his independent record label, Steve Group Music, which is affiliated under the Kalawa Jazmee Records umbrella.

Steve said he is confident music fans will love his upcoming album and identify with most of the tunes, adding he personally identifies with the song, Nembeza, which features Professor who sung it beautifully.

“The song was composed while I was going through a very difficult time in my young career. I was dealing with rejection from various walks of life and the only thing that kept me going was the passion, love and encouragement I received from close friends in the industry and family. I remember I was backstage at a gig and the popular DJs playing on that day did not want me to play my set as I was still an underdog. Professor came up to me and told me to man up and soldier on this journey of music I choose to take. His words gave me the inspiration to produce the hit song Nembeza (Conscience) aimed at inspiring aspiring talent to never grow a conscience when it comes to doing what they love,” he explained.

His new album, Reflection, will also feature hits such as Fire Fox, Shooting Star which is currently enjoying around the clock airplay on various radio stations, and the remix of his popular club banger Celina, which features Xelimpilo of Uhuru-fame.

The album features DJ Oskido, Professor, and Nokwazi on the single, Ingoma, which receives lots of airplay, as well as other artists such as Candy Tsa Mandebel, Xoli M, and Lady Zamar. To add flair to his sound he worked with producers such as Dr Moruti, DJ Mono T, Trademark and also features song birds Thandi Draai, Lerato and Thula of Mmungu Afrika.

Steve recently shot the music video of his first single on the album, Swiloyini, which features Candy Tsa Mandebele and he is scheduled to shoot the video for his next single, Ingoma, soon.

“I’m glad I’ve paid my dues when most people wrote me off due to starting off in the music industry at a mature age. It’s people like Professor who always encouraged me to go on and not to take criticism to heart. Now I’m performing at big events and from here on out the sky is the limit,” he said.
