Try Together FC kitted out

Tshandama Try Together Football Club show off their new soccer kits.

LIMPOPO – During the handing over ceremony the community of Tshandama village in Mutale and surrounding villages came together last Thursday at the Tshandama sports- ground to watch Try Together FC go head-to-head against Badarimogo Football Club later in the day.

Mutale Integrated Energy Centre Manager, Nkhangweni Maluleke, said the soccer kits are their way as a business to give back to the community for the support they have always received. “We also try to encourage youth around Tshandama to be involved in sports and stay away from criminal activities and alcohol and drug abuse,” said Maluleke.

The chairperson of the team wrote a letter to ask for sponsorship from Mutale Integrated Energy Centre. “After we received a letter from the chairperson of the team, we sat down and looked at our budget. We believe it is important to give back to our community but as a start we decided to give them soccer kits as they have many needs,” Maluleke added.

The Chairperson of Tshandama Try Together Football Club, Thendo Takalani, said he wrote a letter to ask various businesses for sponsorship and Mutale Integrated Energy Centre answered his plea.

“We live in a poor community and despite everyone’s valiant efforts to help the team, we needed more assistance which is why I decided to ask sponsors and we are glad today that Mutale Integrated Energy Centre responded and helped us with soccer kits,” said Takalani.

Tendani Mafanedza (Tshandama Try Together Football Club, Captain), receives a new soccer kit from Nkhangweni Maluleke (Mutale Integrated Energy Centre, Manager).

He said many of the businesses he approached turned down their request except for the Mutale Integrated Energy Centre, and he hoped they would adopt the team and help them throughout the season.

The captain of Tshandama Try Together Football Club, Tendani Mafanedza, thanked the sponsors for taking a chance on them and he assured them they would not be disappointed. He promised that they would win their first match in their new soccer kits in front of their sponsor and indeed the results were impressive, Tshandama Try Together beat Badiramogo Football Club 4-1.
